The Eon is the entry-level model in the Hyundai lineup. The small car is developed specifically for India and is positioned below the Hyundai Santro and the i10. The Eon is Hyundai’s answer to Maruti Alto range, as it continues to improve market share in small car and hatchback segments.

The Eon is based on the fluidic design philosophy of the Korean manufacturer and is arguably the best looking entry-level model in India. The small car competes with the Maruti Alto 800 and the Alto K10 with eight variants including three with factory-fit LPG kits.

The Eon is powered by 800cc three-cylinder petrol engine that develops 55bhp and 75Nm of torque. While the basic version is absolutely stripped to base essentials, the top-end Manga Sportz variant has a decent features list that includes driver-side airbag.

The Eon is positioned a notch above the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and has variants that are more expensive than the Alto K10 VXi. The Eon is good enough to give Maruti run for its money – the only thing missing is the CNG variant.

Engine Displacement(cc)

The maximum amount of fuel that the engine can burn in one complete cycle of all the cylinders together.

Maximum Power

The amount of work the engine can do over a period of time. It is measured in Horsepower.
One Horsepower is equal to the energy needed to lift 550 pounds at a height of one foot for one second. 1 PS=1.01387 bhp

Maximum Torque

The maximum power output the engine can produce over a particular range of speed.

Engine Description 0.8-litre 55.2bhp 9V Petrol Engine
Turning Radius

The diameter of the circle created by the outer front wheel when the vehicle takes a full turn.
The lower the Turning Radius the lesser the space the car requires to make a turn.

4.6 metres
No. of Cylinders 3
Drive Type

This refers to the wheel(s) that are driven by the entire moving part of the car Engine, clutch, transmission, driveshaft, differential, axles, etc.

Turbo Charger

A compressor used in engine to increase its power output by increasing the mass of air and fuel entering the engine.
They offer a considerable increase in engine power with only a slight increase in weight. Turbochargers work better on Diesel engines.

Super Charger

A compressor used to pump fuel-air mixture under pressure into the engine to improve its efficiency and thus increase its output power.

Valves Per Cylinder 3
Compression Ratio

Ratio of the volume of cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its rotation (X), to the volume of the cylinder when it is at the top of its rotation (Y).
Mathematically it is expressed as X/Y: 1. It is used to measure performance of the engine.

Fuel Supply System

The system that delivers fuel to the engine as per its needs.

Gear box 5 Speed
Steering Gear Type

The mechanism by which the rotary motion of the steering wheel is converted to
straight line motion required to move a car.

The efficient 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 engine with four overhead camshafts benefits from a lightweight construction. A balance shaft reduces vibrations and ensures excellent smooth running. Direct fuel injection (DFI), VarioCam Plus and integrated dry-sump lubrication are fitted as standard. A coasting function and auto start/ stop function are also provided.

The engine generates a power output of 228 kW (310 hp) at 6,200 rpm and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 3,750 rpm. The result is a top speed of 259 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds in the Panamera, and a 257 km/h top speed and 6.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h in the Panamera 4.
